HD Spikers gun sweep of group stage

Cignal guns for a sweep of the group stage when it takes on Black Mamba Army Thursday in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Paco Arena in Manila.

Game time is at 3 p.m. with the HD Spikers aiming for their fourth straight win in as many outings in Pool B.

Cignal earned a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals when it vanquished Choco Mucho, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16, on Tuesday.

Their earlier triumphs came at the expense of fancied teams F2 Logistics and Chery Tiggo.

The stalwarts of coach Shaq Delos Santos are expected to maintain their usual fiery form with Rachel Anne Daquis spearheading the crew along with Ces Molina, Roselyn Doria and Angeli Araneta.

But a hungry Army will test Cignal’s consistency as the Troopers are eager to jump into the winning column after three straight defeats, including a 25-22, 25-17, 25-19 loss to Chery Tiggo Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, F2 Logistics and Choco Mucho clash at 6 p.m.

Both teams tote 2-1 marks in Pool B.
