Garcia on 124 PL groups flagged by Kontra Daya: 'Procedurally moot'
For an official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the issues raised against a number of party-list organizations running in the May 2022 polls are now procedurally moot.

Comelec Commissioner George Garcia was reacting to the 124 of the 177 PL groups flagged by Kontra Daya for being part of political dynasties or big businesses, having unclear or questionable advocacies and representations, having connections with the government or military, among others.
"As regards the various issues raised against certain partylist groups , these are procedurally moot at this point," he said in a statement Tuesday, March 22.
"The decisions on their accreditations have long attained finality hence , immutable and can no longer be disturbed," added Garcia.
The poll official said this was precisely the reason why the PL groups were "required to publish their manifestations of intent to participate in the 2022 National and Local Elections and anybody can file oppositions within a prescribed period."
"Failure in this respect and there being no injunctive writ from a higher court, these PLs will have to be included in the ballots," Garcia said.
Still, he said, they highly respect the opinions and observations of Kontra Daya and all other stakeholders saying their positions on election issues matter and in contribute to the drafting of worthy policies.
