ILOILO CITY -- The number of people caught violating the election gun ban in the Western Visayas region rose to 119, based on data released by the Police Region Office (PRO-6).

Units under the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office caught 47 violators, the highest number for the region since PRO-6 started to set up checkpoints last January 9 in compliance with the Commission on Election’s order.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office caught 19 violators.
The Aklan Police Provincial Office caught 15 violators, the Iloilo City Police Office nabbed 12, Bacolod City Police Office and the Capiz Police Provincial Office cornered nine violators each, while the Antique Police Provincial Office and the Guimaras Police Provincial Office arrested four violators each.
Confiscated from the 119 persons arrested were 69 assorted firearms and 69 bladed weapons.
Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, PRO-6 director, has given orders for unit commanders to beef up peace and security efforts as the local campaign period starts on Friday, March 25.
