DTI Reg 2 Isabela warns business owners, establishments to comply with fair trade laws

ISABELA -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has encouraged business owners to comply with the Fair Trade Laws to ensure a secure, healthy, and consumer-friendly market for the general public.

The DTI Region 2 Isabela has conducted a Comprehensive Monitoring of the Price and Supply of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities at Ilagan Public Market as part of its mandate to protect consumers from profiteering and unreasonable product prices by some business stalls and establishments, especially in this difficult time of pandemic.

The DTI Reg 2 Isabela also checked whether business establishments in the said public market are complying with the Fair Trade Laws.

As a result, eight Show Cause Orders were issued to grocery stores for partial compliance with proper price tagging as required under the Price Tag Law.

Eleven Letters of Inquiry were also issued to specific establishments selling items at prices higher than the suggested retail prices (SRP).

DTI Isabela said will continue partnership with business owners to promote compliance with fair trade regulations to protect the consumers from unscrupulous businessmen and sellers.
