Pasay BPLO cited for effective rollout of safety seal program

The Pasay City Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) was given a certificate of recognition for ranking third among the highly urbanized cities with the highest number of safety seal certifications issued to registered business establishments.

Taking the first place was Quezon City with 5,800 safety seal certificates issued, followed by Makati City with 3,538, and Pasay City with 2,181.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano was represented by her chief of staff, Peter Pardo, and BPLO chief Mitch Talavera-Pardo during the awarding ceremony held at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) on March 22.

The certificate of recognition was awarded to Pasay City by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año, Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) Czar, Secretary Vince Dizon, and Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Secretary Emmanuel Rey Caintic.

Rubiano was very thankful to her BPLO chief for her hard work in encouraging all businesses around the city to apply for the safety seal certification to ensure that their establishments are safe for customers, and are following the health protocols against the Covid-19.

She said that during the launching of the issuance of safety seal in June last year through the initiative of the BPLO, they set up booths like a one-stop-shop in malls for easy safety seal certification application.

The BPLO chief said the setting up of booths at Resortsworld, Metropoint, Victory Mall, WMall, Double Dragon, and Galleria in Baclaran has been very effective.

Pardo said the inspection committee is composed of members from the BPLO, Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), City Health Office (CHO), the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO), as well as the local police who assist business establishments in applying for the safety seal certification.
