In hopes of strengthening the local upstream space sector, the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) launched the Integrated Development of a Unified Standard 3U System (InDUS3US).

InDUS3US, according to PhilSA, is a project that offers an opportunity to industries and industry engineers to gain knowledge on how to produce a “preliminary design” of a 3U CubeSat.

“PhilSA invites industries and industry engineers to participate in InDUS3US. aims to enhance the local upstream space technology sector by empowering local electronics and manufacturing companies,” said PhilSA in a press statement on Tuesday, March 22.

Interested participants with backgrounds in systems engineering, optical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanical design, analog electronics, radio frequency electronics, digital electronics, software engineering, electronics engineering, and physics are encouraged to apply.

Meanwhile, applicants must also be familiar with roles and functions such as thermal radiation, propulsion, payload front-end electronics, mechanical design, mechanical analysis, power, radio frequency, on-board data handling, flight software, attitude and orbit control systems (AOCS) hardware and AOCS software.

“Selected partners will undergo an eight-month training that involves a systems engineering crash course, mentorship and training on satellite development and testing, and continued collaboration with institutional partners,” said PhilSA.

The agency likewise said that 12 “unique training courses” on satellite design and testing will be covered during the project. Moreover, PhilSA engineers who have successfully accomplished the training for satellite development in the United Kingdom (UK) will facilitate the training.

Those who are aspiring to join may register until April 22, 2022, said the agency.
