Kit Thompson freed after posting bail

Actor Kit Thompson was released on bail after he was arrested for allegedly mauling his girlfriend Ana Jaladoni in Tagaytay City last week.

Thompson paid P144,000 - P72,000 each - for the two cases slapped against him for his temporary liberty.

The Philippine National Police has filed a complaint against him for violation of Section 5 “a” and “i” of Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act.

"Wherein the crime of violence against women and their children is committed through the following acts: (a) 'Causing physical harm to the woman or her child," and (i) "Causing mental or emotional anguish, public ridicule or humiliation to the woman or her child, including, but not limited to, repeated verbal and emotional abuse, and denial of financial support or custody of minor children of access to the woman’s child/children.' "

As stated in the documents signed by Executive Judge Raquel V. Aspiras-Sanchez in Tagaytay last March 21, Kit's case shall be raffled off on March 24.

"Accordingly, the Chief of Police of Tagaytay Component City Police Station, Tagaytay City, Cavite is hereby ordered to cause the release of accused Keith Thompson y San Esteban from custody unless he is being held for some other legal cause or ground," the document read.

A few days ago, Cornerstone Entertainment Inc. released a statement concerning Kit, who was arrested for allegedly detaining and hurting his girlfriend, actress Ana Jalandoni, in Tagaytay last Friday. Kit is a talent of Cornerstone Entertainment.

The PNP has vowed to dig deeper into the case.

“We do not condone any act of violence, especially against women. As we celebrate the Women’s Month, we couldn’t stress enough the inherent role of the PNP to protect the rights of every woman in society," said P/BGen. Roderick Augustus B. Alba. “We vow to conduct a full, fair and transparent investigation."
