Colegio de Muntinlupa, DOST-ITDI sign accord to promote 3D printing technology

The city-run Colegio de Muntinlupa and the Department of Science and Technology-Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) signed an agreement on Tuesday, March 22, for the promotion of 3D printing technology in the academe.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, CDM College President and former DOST-National Capital Region director Dr. Teresita Fortuna, and DOST-ITDI Director Dr. Annabelle Briones signed a memorandum of understanding at the CDM Main Building in Barangay Sucat, Muntinlupa. Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac also joined the signing ceremony.

Fresnedi thanked the DOST-ITDI for partnering with the city government and training the next engineers and architects of the city.

The partnership between CDM and DOST-ITDI “aims to conduct research collaborations in the establishment of the 3D Printing Hub for training, research and innovation, commercialization, industry-based projects and other activities.”

Under the MOU, the DOST-ITDI will “provide the necessary expertise needed in the establishment of the 3D Printing Hub; assign project team in the implementation of R&D projects and technical services for 3D Printing Technology; design and conduct training programs on 3D printing technology; promote 3D printing technology to members of the academe, students, community and industry; and provide data and information needed for projects.”

The CDM will provide personnel in the implementation of R&D projects and technical services for 3D Printing Technology and provide the venue for training.

CDM’s partnership with DOST-ITDI is part of the college’s fifth founding anniversary celebration.

Recently, CDM announced that it will offer the following new courses: BS Architecture, BS Construction Engineering and Management, BS Environmental Engineering, BS Industrial Engineering, and BS Robotics Engineering.

These are in addition to the existing engineering courses of CDM, which are BS Civil Engineering, BS Computer Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, BS Electronics Engineering, and BS Mechanical Engineering.

CDM was established in 2018 and will hold its first commencement exercise this year for the first batch of graduates.
