ITCZ to bring scattered rain showers over Palawan, Mindanao

Scattered rain showers may affect Palawan and Mindanao in the next 24 hours due to the prevalence of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), a region where winds coming from the northern and southern hemispheres converge, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday afternoon, March 21.
PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides because of the occurrence of moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
In its extended weather outlook for key areas from March 22 to 25, PAGASA said that maximum air temperatures may reach 33-34 degrees Celsius (℃) in Metro Manila, 32-33℃ in Tuguegarao City, 24-25℃ in Baguio City, 29-30℃ in Tagaytay City, 31-33℃ in Puerto Princesa City, 31-32℃ in Metro Cebu, 32-33℃ in Metro Davao, and 32-33℃ in Zamboanga City.
However, PAGASA still advised the public to stay vigilant as severe thunderstorms, which usually occur in the afternoon or evening, may trigger flash floods or landslides.
Severe thunderstorms are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and gusty winds that usually last up to two hours.
