High cost of fuel products prompts Gomez to cancel caravans, motorcades
TACLOBAN CITY - Following the continuous spike in the cost of fuels, Ormoc City Mayor and Leyte 4th District Congressional candidate Richard Gomez announced that they will not hold caravans and motorcades at the start of the campaign period.
Gomez said the Ormoc Development Team (ODT), together with their allies in the 4th District of Leyte, will also not be holding motorcades in their areas to save from fuel expenses.
The official likewise encouraged other political camps to follow suit.
"Let us be considerate. Sa kalisod sa panahon karon, dili angay ang mapasigarbohon nga kampanya," he said. ("Let us be considerate. A grand campaign is inappropriate considering how difficult life is now.")
The campaign period for local candidates starts on March 25.
Instead of having the usual caravan to kick off the local campaign, Gomez said they will just attend a mass at 3 P.M. and proceed to hold three rallies per night before the elections.
