Gov. Dolor appeals to IATF to lower alert level status of Oriental Mindoro

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Governor Humerlito A. Dolor has requested the Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to lower the quarantine classification of the province from Alert Level 2 to Level 1.

In a letter to Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III, Gov. Dolor said the province has achieved its vaccination target for the total population as well as for the senior citizens as it recorded only 35 average daily cases of Covid-19 and an average daily attack of 0.29.

The province likewise posted a growth rate of -8.0 percent of Covid-19 cases and hospital utilization rate of 10.04 percent, according to Dolor.

The governor also informed Sec. the Provincial Health Office (PHO) has recorded a total of 516,876 fully vaccinated individuals or 70.17 percent of the 80 percent target and 75 percent or 51,853 senior citizens as of 1:00 p.m. of March 17, 2022.

Gov. Dolor’s request was supported by Dr. Mario S. Baquilod, regional director of Department of Health-MIMAROPA (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) who also recommended the downgrading of the Oriental Mindoro’s quarantine category status.

Baquilod, who also chairs the Regional Vaccination Operations Center said the PHO and Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO) are now reconciling their data for review and evaluation of the IATF-National.

Although its S-Pass category has become unrestricted, Oriental Mindoro remains under Alert Level 2 from March 16 to 31.
