DOH reports 3,572 new Covid-19 cases in the past week; 655 deaths

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday, March 21 that it recorded 3,572 new Covid-19 cases in the past week.

Among the new cases, only one was tagged under severe and critical cases or 0.03 percent of the new cases. This is the third week of implementation of the health agency’'s weekly case bulletin. Data shared was from March 14 to March 20.

According to the data, the seven-day average daily cases dipped to 510, lower by 13 percent from March 7 to March 13.

Monday's data released by the DOH also showed that 805 patients with severe and critical Covid-19 infections were admitted. This is 12.3 percent of total Covid-19 admissions.

DOH also reported 655 new deaths from Covid-19.

Of the 655 deaths, 97 occurred in March 2022 (14.8 percent), 122 in February 2022 (18.6 percent), 81 in January 2022 (12.4 percent).

Seven in December 2021 (1.1 percent), 29 in November 2021 (4.4 percent), 101 in October 2021 (15.4 percent), 100 in September 2021 (15.3 percent), 45 in August 2021 (6.9 percent), 15 in July 2021 (2.3 percent), 13 in June 2021 (2.0 percent), six in May 2021 (0.9 percent), six in April 2021 (0.9 percent), one in March 2021 (0.2 percent), five in February 2021 (0.8 percent), eight in January 2021 (1.2 percent).

Two in December 2020 (0.3 percent), five in November 2020 (0.8 percent), five in October 2020 (0.8 percent), two in September 2020 (0.3 percent), and one in August 2020 (0.2 percent) due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya.

Meanwhile, DOH said that more than 65 million individuals or 72.41 percent of the target population has been vaccinated against Covid-19 while 11.5 million individuals received booster shots.

On the ither hand, 17.8 percent or 619 out of 3,473 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds are being utilized while 16.6 percent or 4,532 out of 27,276 Non-ICU beds are used.
