Aspiring governor Tan highlights achievements from lengthy House stint
Quezon 4th district Rep. Angelina "Helen" Tan trumpeted on Sunday night, March 20, the P26 billion worth of programs that she has help implement in her almost nine years of service as a congresswoman.

“Sa kabuoan, higit P26 bilyon piso na halaga ng mga programa at proyekto sa ilalim ng ating HEALING agenda ang ating pinagsikapang ilaan upang lapatan ng kaagarang lunas ang iniindang sakit ng ating distrito at lalawigan (All in all, over P26 billion was poured into programs and projects under the HEALING agenda in the effort to provide immediate aid to the ills of our district and our province)," Tan said during her final "Ulat ng Panunungkulan (Service Report)", which was streamed live over Facebook.
The HEALING agenda stands for Health, Education, Agriculture, Livelihood, Infrastructure, Nature and Environment/Tourism, and Good Governance.
Tan, chairperson of the House Commitee on Health, said she plans to expand on new HEALING agenda if and when she wins in her bid to become Quezon governor.
The veteran solon, who is also a doctor, also highlighted in her report her office's pandemic response, which included the distribution of an estimated 700,000 food packs and nearly 18,000 vitamins and medicines to affected people.
Being a legislator, Tan--dressed in State of the Nation Address (SONA)-worthy attire--also underscored her efforts in pushing for a total of 115 House bills (HBs). Among these measures, 37 were principally authored by her.
These include the Universal Health Care Act, Tuberculosis law, Mandatory PhilHealth Coverage for Senior Citizens, Doktor Para sa Bayan Act, and the measure paving the way for the construction of the Southern Luzon Multi-Specialty Medical Center in Barangay Potol, Tayabas City.
According to Tan, the House health panel was responsible for passing 85 proposed laws during her six years as chairperson. These included landmark national health reform laws and the construction of hospitals in various locations around the country.
Now on her third and final term as House representative, Tan is eyeing the gubernatorial seat in the province where she intends to keep serving the people.
“Inaanyayahan ko ang lahat na ating pasimulan ang panibagong kabanata ng pakikipagbalikatan upang maiahon ang mas marami nating mga kababayan sa lalawigan ng Quezon sa kanilang pagkakalugmok sa kahirapan (I invite everyone to help me start this new chapter of work in order to lift even more of our fellowmen in Quezon province from poverty)," she said.
Over 2,000 people from all over Quezon physically attended the Ulat ng Panunungkulan. The attendees included board members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, mayors and other officials from various towns, and guests from the national government and the private sector.
