LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Personnel of the Benguet Provincial Police Office and Commission on Elections (Comelec) initiated a unity walk for a Secure, Accurate, Free, and Fair Elections (SAFE) 2022 as May 9 National and Local Elections draw near.

The Unity Walk on March 17 was also participated in by candidates in the provincial and municipal, together with Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV).
The Unity Walk started from La Trinidad municipal grounds and reached the Provincial capitol grounds where a program was held to promote a SAFE 2022 Elections.
The program was highlighted with an ecumenical prayer for peace and peace covenant signing or the signing of the Integrity Pledge.
Further, it ended with the "Unity Messages" of the members of the Provincial COMELEC Campaign Committee which aims to attain peace and unity; maintain good cyber-hygiene; ensure transparency in the sources of campaign financing, and maximize public trust in the electoral process.
Col. Reynaldo Pasiwen, provincial director of Benguet PPO said, the conduct of free and peaceful elections in the province of Benguet must be sustained through the collaborative efforts of the different government agencies, religious groups, and the Benguet Province Electoral Candidates.
“With our collective efforts, we can proudly say that the voice of the people is the voice of God,” said Pasiwen.
“I, therefore, urge everyone to follow the rules set by COMELEC and make the election in the province peaceful. On the part of PNP, Benguet PPO will remain apolitical and fair in treating every candidate,” added Pasiwen.
