Onic PH bounces back vs NXPE for second straight win

Onic Philippines completed its redemption against Nexplay Evos with a 2-1 victory in their second meeting in the MPL Philippines Season 9 on Sunday, March 20.

Losing via 2-0 sweep in the first round, Onic PH made sure to exact its revenge against NXPE as the M3 runner-up pulled off big plays in the decider to emerge victorious and climb up to the No. 4 spot in the standings with a 6-3 record with 15 points on the board.

A beautifully done Yin-Yang overturn from Jaylord “Hatred” Gonzales’ Kagura which landed on four NXPE heroes at the eight-minute mark turned the table in favor of Onic.

That created the space for Onic to go for the Lord take in the next sequence but a late contest from NXPE players worked wonders as it took down four heroes on the side of Onic to neutralize the supposed Lord march.

Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy however had other things in mind as his clutch Iron Hook to pick-off Cadenza in the next Lord fight changed the complexion of the match as Onic eliminated four NXPE heroes before going for the one-lane push nad ending the series via a 12-11 Game 3 win.

It was actually Onic PH which drew the series’ first blood after it endured a scintillating start from NXPE’s rising rookie Michael “MP the King” Endino’s Lancelot. A clash for the 12-minute Lord however allowed Onic to regain control of the match after Kairi on the Aulus scored a triple kill.

Once it got the lead, Onic steamrolled to the victory as it dominated in the late game en route to the 18-15 Game 1 win

Unlike in Game 1, Nexplay Evos took better care of its lead in Game 2 as its late game composition anchored on the Hesa’s Brody, Yellyhaze’s Cecilion quickly reached their power spikes. NXPE’s damage output proved to be too much as it even melted Onic’s Baxia pick.

NXPE tied the series after a clean 14-5 Game 2 triumph but the squad failed to carry over its momentum to the winner-take-all. NXPE now has absorbed three straight losses for a 4-5 record good for 12 points.
