KAPUSO-PM Party-list backs Escudero's Senate comeback bid

Kabalikat Patungo sa Umuunlad na Sistematiko at Organisadong Pangkabuhayan Movement (KAPUSO-PM) Party-list has endorsed Sorsogon Governor Francis "Chiz" Escudero’s 2022 senatorial re-election bid.

KAPUSO-PM is a sectoral party-list representing the urban and rural poor and only recently registered with the Commission on Elections in October 2021.

“Ang walang dungis na track record ni Gov. Escudero bilang lingkod-bayan ay isang patunay na karapat-dapat siyang mahalal sa Senado (Escudero’s clean track record as a public servant proves that he should be elected into Senate),” said KAPUSO-PM Chairman Rhandell Santos in a press statement on Sunday, March 20.

“Bilang Gobernador, sinimulan niya ang mabilis na pagpapatupad ng mga proyekto sa kalusugan, turismo, agrikultura, imprastraktura, social services at disaster risk management na lubos na nagpabago sa buhay ng mga Sorsoganons (As governor, he quickly implemented health, tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, socials services, and disaster risk managements projects that have improved the lives of Sorsoganons),” Santos explained.

According to Santos, Escudero’s past tenure as senator and governor align with the KAPUSO-PM’s own goals.

Escudero’s main electoral platform for 2022 is the empowerment of local government unit (LGUs) autonomy especially in how they handle the Covid-19 response within their respective cities and municipalities.

Meanwhile, the Agimat, An Waray, Ang Kabuhayan, Ang Probinsyano, ARISE, Bayaning Tsuper, BHW, Kusog Bikolandia, and Magdalo Party-lists have all previously supported Escudero’s bid.

Escudero is running for the Senate in the upcoming 2022 polls and has been included in the senatorial slates of the following presidential-vice presidential tandems: Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan; Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Sen. Tito Sotto; and Sen. Manny Pacquiao and Rep. Lito Atienza.
