Flying Titans squeak past Crossovers

Choco Mucho squeaked past defending champion Chery Tiggo, 25-21, 16-25, 25-17, 17-25, 18-16, Sunday for its second win in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Paco Arena in Manila.

The Flying Titans held their composure after blowing a two-point lead and trailed 13-11 in the decider as two unforced errors from the Crossovers sealed their fate and gave Choco Mucho the victory.

Kat Tolentino sizzled throughout and erupted for 23 points built on 19 kills and four blocks, while Cherry Rose Nunag and Aduke Ogunsanya chipped in 10 points apiece.

Deanna Wong also shone when needed most and converted 33 excellent sets.

While the Crossovers were able to convert more attacks, 63-51, it was the Flying Titans’ net defense that spelled the difference as Choco Mucho posted 15 blocks compared to only five from Chery Tiggo.

Choco Mucho’s victory overshadowed the 29-point output of Dindin Manabat for Chery Tiggo.
