The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will review the policy on withdrawal and substitution of candidates after the May 2022 polls.

"After this elections, what we really need to review is the issue of nuisance candidates, substitution, and withdrawal," Comelec Commissioner George Garcia said in a press briefing on March 17.
"Many say it is being abused and, thus, prohibited. It would be better if we look into if this is it is really being abused," he added.
But Garcia said they can only contribute to the law that will be crafted.
He added:"Whatever Congress passes into law, we will just implement."
A total of 19 candidates for national posts in the upcoming polls withdrew their candidacies, while 10 filed their bids as substitute bets.
