In Bulacan, six of the province’s mayors have backed Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s vice presidential bid.

These six include Baliuag Mayor Ferdinand Estrella; San Miguel Mayor Roderick Tiongson; Pandi Mayor Enrico Roque; San Ildefonso Mayor Paula Galvez-Tan; Bustos Mayor Francis Juan; and Plaridel Mayor Anastasia Vistan.
They pledged their support to the presidential daughter during a meeting in Baliuag, Bulacan on Sunday, March 20.
One of the mayors, Tiongson, even said that all 49 barangays of the San Miguel municipality would back Duterte’s VP bid.
In one instance, Tiongson asked attendees during a “Sara para sa barangay” event in San Miguel, Bulacan if they could produce 100,000 votes for Duterte, to which attendees said yes.
However, last March 14, Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando ultimately backed Vice President Leni Robredo’s presidential campaign.
“Let a woman lead. Let Leni lead,” Fernando said.
While some of the mayors that backed Duterte’s bid promised to deliver votes to Duterte, Gov. Fernando clarified that his endorsement of VP Robredo was a “personal choice” and that he would not impose his preference on his constituents.
About 45,000 people attended VP Robredo's rally in Bulacan last March 5.
Duterte is running for the vice presidency alongside presidential bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the 2022 polls, both under the UniTeam banner.
