A 160-foot statue of the Risen Christ envisioned to become a global landmark, eco-tourism and premier pilgrimage site is soon to rise in Porac, Pampanga, Father Restituto Lumanlan said Saturday.

Lumanlan made the announcement during the groundbreaking and presentation ceremony for the construction of the Society Verbi Divine (SVD) Dambana ng Buhay in Barangay Babo Pangulo, Porac.
The SVD Dambana ng Buhay is a quiet place where people can commune with nature and with God. It is a project of the Shrine of the Risen Christ Foundation Inc.
The foundation’s board of director, Henry Bayubay, said the SVD Dambana ng Buhay represents the faith of the only Christian nation in Asia.
According to the Shrine of the Risen Christ development plan, the gigantic sculpture of the Risen Christ conceptualized to be the tallest in the world, will be enshrined on top of the elevated section of the ground.
Bayubay said the 13 stations of the Way of the Cross have already been installed in a zigzag pattern around the 6,552-square meter festival road. Each station was uniquely and individually sculptured using lahar from Mount Pinatubo.
The giant image of the Risen Christ will serve as the 14th station of the Way of the Cross, according to the foundation official.
The Church of the Resurrection that will be built at the site is a one-story building that can accommodate 1,000 people, while the Garden of the Risen Christ will have a columbarium consisting of 3,720 niches.
Formation and renewal center facilities in the area will have air-conditioned rooms equipped with toilets and baths. There will be a function hall that has a capacity of 70 persons at a given time.
The SVD Dambana ng Buhay is a 3-hectare property donated by the four children of the late lawyer Agustin Coronel Dizon.
