Valenzuela City announces tricycle fare increase due to oil price hike
The Valenzuela City government announced on Monday, March 1, that the fare for tricycles in the city has increased due to the continuous rise in fuel prices.
The fare increase follows the matrix under City Ordinance No. 497 Series of 2018 or the "Standardized Public Utility Tricycle Fare Increase" that adjusts the price for the utilization of the three-wheeled vehicles in case there are changes in oil prices in the country.
The local government said that starting March 1, the minimum fare will be P10 per passenger and P40 if it is a "special trip," and P1.50 will be added per kilometer during the trip.
Following Metro Manila's placement under COVID-19 Alert Level 2 quarantine status, the seating capacity for the tricycles and pedicabs also reverted to pre-pandemic number of passengers per vehicle.
The local government said up to four passengers are allowed to ride
tricycles and two passengers for pedicabs or a maximum of three if the vehicle has a back seat.
