San Juan active COVID-19 cases dip to 7

The San Juan City local government on Wednesday, March 2, saw one of its lowest tallies of active COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in 2020.

In his Facebook post, Mayor Francis Zamora reported seven active COVID-19 cases in San Juan as of March 2. This is the second lowest number of active cases in the city following the five cases recorded on Dec. 12, 2021.

The city also tallied 20,823 recoveries and noted that there are no new deaths from the dreaded virus, keeping the number of casualties to 360.

The city government said that seven out of the 21 barangays in San Juan each recorded only one active case.

The mayor reminded the public not to be complacent amid the continuous decline in COVID-19 cases and to strictly adhere to the public health and safety protocols.

On Tuesday, March 1, Zamora led the launch of the city’s house-to-house COVID-19 booster shot vaccination program to further increase the number of people protected against the coronavirus.

He explained that the special vaccination was primarily intended for senior citizens and bedridden patients who are physically unable to go to the city’s main vaccination sites.

However, with the shift to Alert Level 1 that will allow 100 percent operational capacity in all business establishments and activities, more people are expected to go out of their homes, which prompted the local government to open the house-to-house vaccination to all residents qualified for a booster shot.
