The donation is part of MOL’s support to PRC’s continuous humanitarian efforts in the areas affected by Typhoon Odette.

The donation turnover event was attended by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. Chief Country Representative in the Philippines Mr. Teiichiro Shinoda and Director Capt. Hiroshi Yoshida together with PRC executives at the PRC National Headquarters on March 17.

“We are grateful for your continuous support of our humanitarian service. Our commitment to alleviate human suffering and uplift the dignity of the people is possible because of your generosity. This donation will go a long way to help the most vulnerable get back on their feet,” PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sen. Dick Gordon said.

MOL is a long-time partner of PRC in providing support to families affected by natural disasters. Recently, MOL donated P536,225.56 to support affected individuals during the Taal Volcano Eruption in 2020.

Meanwhile, PRC maintains continuous deployment of the PRC water tankers to provide clean and potable water to those affected by Typhoon Odette in Cebu, three months after it hit.

PRC said that it provided 5,000 liters of clean and potable water to Sitio Dalas-ag, Brgy. Balisog, Sitio Joseng - Enong, Brgy. Jampang, Sitio Upper Anna, Brgy. Bulasa, Argao, Sitio Talisay, Btgy. Arbor, Boljoon, and 7,000 liters in Sitio Acacia, Brgy. Arbor, Boljoon on March 17.

Overall, PRC provided 27,000 liters of water that day. Aside from water distribution, the PRC also conducted hygiene promotion to 740 individuals to equip them with proper knowledge on proper hygiene to prevent waterborne diseases.

“Hindi natin pababayaan ang mga apektado ng Odette. Patuloy ang ating mga water tankers sa pagbibigay ng malinis na tubig sa mga apektadong lugar sa Visayas at Mindanao region na kung saan, hindi pa naibabalik ang isa sa pinakamahalagang lifeline sa lugar (We will always be there for those affected by Odette. Our water tankers continue to provide water to affected areas in Visayas and Mindanao regions where the important lifelines have not been restored),” Gordon said.

Since the start of the Red Cross Typhoon Odette operations, the PRC said that it has distributed 13,753,023 liters of clean water and has also conducted Hygiene Promotion to 239,156 individuals in the affected areas of the Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao regions.

"PRC continues to provide humanitarian assistance, truly abiding by its commitment to alleviate human suffering and uplift the people's dignity," it said.
