Lacson to focus on MSMEs to energize PH economy

Presidential candidate Senator Panilo Lacson will focus on micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) because 99.5 percent of Philippine enterprises came from the sector.

This was Lacson’s answer to a question on what he would attend to first should he win in the May 2022 Palace race.

Lacson was one of the nine presidential candidates present during the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-sponsored presidential debate on Saturday night, March 19.

He said the current national budget has P2 billion in the small banking corporation under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and another P2 billion in the agricultural guarantee pool.

These funding sources, however, were not given attention because there has been no access to MSMEs, he said.

‘’Kailangan ng comprehensive fiscal stimulus para sating MSMEs (There should be a comprehensive fiscal stimulus for our MSMEs). Tulungan natin sila ibangon kasi napakalaking tama (We should help them because they were badly hit),’’ he added.
