K-pop boy band Stray Kids' Han tests positive for Covid-19 amid album promotions

K-pop idol group Stray Kids member Han has tested positive for Covid-19 a day after the group released their new album.

“We inform you that Stray Kids member Han has tested positive for Covid-19 today ,” announced JYP Entertainment, Stray Kids’ agency.

The agency said, “On the afternoon of March 18th, Han took a PCR test as a preemptive measure and received a positive diagnosis on March 19th.”

“Han has received his second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. and as he is currently not presenting any symptoms, he is quarantining in accordance with the guidelines of the disease prevention authorities,” it added.

According to the agency, the six members of Stray Kids “excluding Changbin and Han have tested negative on their PCR tests and they have been staying in separated living spaces since the afternoon of March 18th.”

“All members will continue to focus on personal hygiene and monitor their health,” it said.

Stray Kids made their comeback on March 18 with the release of their new mini-album “Oddinary,” which sold 496,125 copies on the first day, according to Hanteo Chart.

Maroo Entertainment announced on March 19 that Ghost9 member Lee Jinwoo tested positive for Covid-19 after members Junhyung and Kangsung were diagnosed with the disease.

Han and Jinwoo are the latest Korean celebrities to be diagnosed with Covid-19 as South Korea continues to experience a surge in cases due to the Omicron variant.

On March 19, South Korea recorded 381,454 new Covid-19 cases to bring the total confirmed cases to 9.03 million.

Among the recent Covid-19 infections are ASTRO’s Cha Eun-woo, NMIXX’s Jinni and Kim Dong-wan. At least 232 Korean celebrities have been diagnosed with Covid-19 since Jan. 19.

Meanwhile, TOMORROW X TOGETHER member Soobin "has made a full recovery from Covid-19 and his quarantine" ended on March 18, according to Big Hit Music.

"Soobin has been administering self-treatment at home as per health authority guidelines and has not shown any extraordinary symptoms. As his quarantine has concluded, Soobin can resume his activities starting from today," the agency said.
