Cyclone formation less likely in next 5 days — PAGASA

Conditions are less favorable for a tropical cyclone to develop over the waters surrounding the country in the next five days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, March 19.

In the PAGASA’s live weather forecast, weather specialist Benison Estareja said the northeasterly surface wind flow and easterlies will be the dominant weather systems in the country within the next 24 hours.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with light rains because of the northeasterly surface wind flow.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Estareja said most of the country will continue to experience warm weather but may receive rains or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

In its extended weather outlook for key areas from March 20 to 23, PAGASA said that maximum air temperatures may reach 33-34 degrees Celsius (℃) in Metro Manila, 32-34℃ in Tuguegarao City, 25-26℃ in Baguio City, 31-32℃ in Tagaytay City, 30-31℃ in Puerto Princesa City, 30-31℃ in Metro Cebu, 31-32℃ in Metro Davao, and 31-33℃ in Zamboanga City.

PAGASA, however, advised the public to stay vigilant as severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.
