UniTeam Senate bet Villar eyes completion of Panay-Guimaras-Negros bridges
Nacionalista Party (NP) member and UniTeam senatorial candidate Mark Villar is backing the completion of the Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridges (PGNB) in Region VI, Western Visayas.

“I am in support of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) current efforts to continue the completion of this project. The Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridges is one of the major bridges aimed at linking island provinces, with the main objective of linking Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao via land travel,” said Villar, who previously served as DPWH secretary.
The project will see the completion of two major sections: Section A will be a 13-kilometer bridge (with 4.97-kilometers of the bridge covering sea) that connects the Panay-Guimaras islands; while Section B will be 19.47 kilometers in length (with 13.11 covering sea) and will connect the Guimaras-Negros islands.

“At the end of the day po, my advocacy is to ensure the completion of projects like this. Ito po ay makakatulong sa ating mga kababayan at makakapagpalago ng ekonomiya at turismo ng bansa (This will help the citizens and will boost economy and tourism),” Villar said.
Meanwhile, the DPWH previously announced on Facebook last October 2021 that the Republic of Korea would finance the PNGB project through official development assistance coursed through the Korea Export-Import Bank Economic Development Cooperation Fund (KEXIM Bank-ECDF).
Villar, who has been dubbed the "chief builder" of the Duterte administration during his DPWH tenure, has focused his electoral platform on continuing the current administration’s ‘Build, Build, Build’ infrastructure initiative.
Villar's team, the UniTeam coalition, is led by presidential bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
