Tag your travel buddies! DOT allows hotel guests from different households to share rooms

Hotel guests from different households are now allowed to share rooms in accommodation establishments (AEs) located in areas under Alert Level 3 and below, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced Thursday, March 17.

The DOT issued the statement after receiving reports that several hotels refused to give permission to some guests from different households to share rooms.

To clarify the issue, the DOT cited the guidelines for hotels under the alert level systems of Covid-19.

“Regular hotels in areas under alert levels 1, 2, and 3 may accommodate leisure and business guests. The hotels are also allowed full room occupancy, regardless of whether the leisure guests are from the same household or not, subject to minimum public health standards,” it said.

Aside from this, the DOT has also allowed daily housekeeping, room service, and food delivery for hotel guests.

Moreover, it also reminded stakeholders to observe the guidelines, especially with the anticipated influx of guests this summer season.

“Any violation of these guidelines, which may include making any false, deceptive, or misleading claims for the purpose of soliciting business from guests and clients will subject the AEs to penalties and fines, depending on the gravity of the offense,” the DOT said.
