PDP-Laban endorses UniTeam Senate bet Legarda

Ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) has endorsed House Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda's bid for a Senate comeback in the upcoming May polls.

PDP-Laban Secretary General Melvin Matibag released a statement on behalf of the ruling party declaring their support for her Senate bid.

“Senator Legarda represents advocacies that form part of PDP-Laban's 11-Point Agenda. She has also pledged to support the continuity of the programs and advocacies started and implemented by the Duterte Administration, which have served and helped the people,” read the statement dated March 14.

Specifically, the party pointed out pro-environment policies which Legarda authored and sponsored including the Clean Air Act; the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act; the Philippine Climate Change Act; and the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act.

For her part, Antique Rep. Legarda thanked the ruling party for its endorsement.

"I am heartened by the valuable endorsement of President Duterte's PDP-Laban party on my pursuit of a Senate seat. It inspires me to further champion in the Senate the welfare of the marginalized and unrepresented Filipinos," Legarda said.

President Duterte, who chairs the PDP-Laban, earlier personally endorsed Legarda’s bid.

Legarda is running under the UniTeam ticket of presidential bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
