PBA 3x3: Limitless, SMB begin title chase

Limitless faces San Miguel Beer in a battle of the last two leg champions as part of a busy first day schedule in Leg 4 of the PBA 3x3 second conference on Saturday, March 20 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Appmasters-Beermen match will be played in the latter part of a 16-game schedule as the second and third leg winners try to put themselves in position to contend for a title in the last stage of the halfcourt tourney.

But before taking on SMB, Brandon Rosser, Jorey Napoles, Marvin Hayes and Reymar Caduyac will have to focus on trying to produce wins against Master Sardines and NorthPort as Limitless is expected to top Pool A in convincing fashion.

Rosser, Napoles, Hayes and Caduyac are also using the succeeding legs as buildup in their quest to win the men’s gold in the 3x3 competitions of the Vietnam Southeast Asian Games in May.

Games inside the Big Dome will start at 8 a.m.

Out for redemption is San Miguel after being eliminated by the same Limitless squad in the quarterfinals.

But the Beermen will have big man Ken Bono back after missing the third leg due to injury, while Louie Vigil is also back to team up with flashy guard Jeff Manday and Bacon Austria.

SMB also sees action thrice, including matches with Cavitex and NorthPort.

First leg champion and third leg runner-up TNT plays two games in Pool B opposite Platinum Karaoke and Sista.

TNT has seen its bid to add another leg crown thwarted twice by Limitless during the quarterfinals of Leg 2 and finals of Leg 3.

A competitive chase for quarterfinal spots is seen in Pool C composed of Meralco, Terrafirma, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Purefoods.

The top three teams in Pool A and each of the two best squads in Pool B and C will advance to the quarters.

Third placers in Pool B and C face off in a one-game affair to begin the knockout stages tomorrow.

Once again at stake is P100,000 for the leg champion, P50,000 to the runner-up and P30,000 to the team that places third.
