Local candidates in Parañaque and Pasay sign peace covenant for May polls


Local candidates in the cities of Paranaque and Pasay held a unity walk and signed a peace covenant for the May 9 national and local elections.

Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez, who is on his last term as the city chief executive, joined his brother Rep. Eric Olivarez who is running for mayor; Binky Favis, vice mayoral bet; and other aspiring city councilors.

Lighting of candles, pledge of commitment, and signing of peace covenant for the conduct of peaceful, honest and orderly elections were held at the Paranaque City Hall quadrangle at about 8:45 a.m. on March 17.

Pasay Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, who is running for second term, led the unity walk together with Team Calixto and representatives from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The parties released white doves after the signing of the peace covenant at the Sta. Clara de Montefalco.
