BIR moves deadline of ITR filing on April 18

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has extended up to April 18 the deadline for the filing of 2021 income tax return (ITR).

BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay moved the original April 15 deadline as it is a holiday, Good Friday.

The BIR chief asked Authorized Agent Banks (AABs) to extend banking hours from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. starting April 1 to accommodate those who will file their ITRs.

He said AABs should be opened and accept ITRs on two Saturdays, March 26 and April 2.

Dulay explained the AABs were supposed to be opened on two Saturdays prior to the deadline, but April 9 and 16 are declared regular holidays, Araw Ng Kagitingan and Black Saturday, respectively.

He made the twin requests based on an agreement signed by the AABs, BIR and the Bureau of Treasury.
