Petro Gazz edges BaliPure

Petro Gazz recovered from a third-set stumble and downed BaliPure, 25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, Thursday for its first win in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Paco Arena in Manila.

Remy Palma, MJ Phillips and Grethcel Soltones carried the fight for the Angels by unloading 12 points each.

Palma and Nicole Tiamzon stepped up at the attack line for Petro Gazz with combined 19 kills, while Phillips took charge of their net defense with five blocks.

The Angels outplayed the Water Defenders on all fronts by firing more attacks, 51-44, making more blocks, 12-7, and delivering more aces, 10-2.

Six of those aces came from Soltones.

Janine Marciano took up the fight for BaliPure by pumping in 19 points while Geneveve Casugod added 11 points, but fell short as Petro Gazz attacked on all angles.
