Face-to-face classes start in San Carlos City

BACOLOD CITY - The City of San Carlos in Negros Occidental has resumed its face-to-face classes (F2F) amid the reduction of Covid-19 cases in the province.

Eight schools were allowed to hold the limited F2F classes upon the completion of requirements and approval from the local government unit and the Department of Education (DepEd)-Western Visayas on March 7.

According to Schools Division Superintendent Anthony Liobet, the go-signal to conduct face-to-face classes was based on the School Safety Assessment Tool (SSAT) which was used to assess the readiness of the schools, and whether the schools complied with the directives both of the local government unit and the DepEd’s central office.

These schools were the San Carlos Milling Company Inc. Elementary School, Congressman Vicente Gustilo Sr. Memorial, San Juan Elem School, Don Carlos Ledesma National High School, Florentina Ledesma Elem. School, Malindog Elem. School, Mabato Elementary School and San Jose Elem School.

A total of 964 learners are currently doing alternate classes, face-to-face classes for the whole week and modular form of learning for the next week.

Liobet is looking forward to adding more schools, and thanked the local government for helping them prepare the schools in time for the face-to-face classes.

Liobet assured that teachers handling the face-to-face classes were fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated school officials are required to present a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) negative result every two weeks.

Currently, there are a total of 65 public elementary and secondary schools in the city with 31,015 learners enrolled.
