Phivolcs logs over 600 aftershocks after 6.4-magnitude Occidental Mindoro quake

State seismologists continued to detect more aftershocks, two days after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake jolted Occidental Mindoro on Monday morning, March 14.
As of 6 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) so far detected 664 aftershocks, with magnitudes ranging between 1.3 and 5.1.
Of the 664 earthquakes, Phivolcs plotted or located 222 close to the epicenter of the main shock in Lubang Island, Occidental Mindoro.
However, only one of the recorded earthquakes was felt.
Phivolcs on Wednesday also recorded a 5.3-magnitude earthquake offshore of Lubang, Occidental Mindoro.
The earthquake occurred 82 kilometers northwest of the municipality of Lubang at around 8:09 a.m.
“This is an aftershock of the 14 March 2022 M6.4 Lubang, Occidental Mindoro earthquake event,” Phivolcs said in its bulletin.
