HD Spikers stun Crossovers in PVL

Cignal HD stunned defending champion Chery Tiggo, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18, to make its title campaign felt in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Wednesday night at the Paco Arena in Manila.

Skipper Rachel Daquis, Ces Molina and Angeli Araneta delivered the blows for the HD Spikers as they joined the F2 Cargo Movers to the winning column.

Daquis pumped in 14 points including four blocks while Molina and Araneta chipped in 16 and 12 points including combined 24 kills as Cignal exploited the absence of Jaja Santiago for Chery Tiggo.

Santiago is still playing in the Japanese club league.

Aside from providing rock-solid net defense with 12 blocks, the HD Spikers also gained 36 points off Chery Tiggo’s unforced errors.

Ria Meneses also shone for Cignal with 11 points including six blocks while Angelica Cayuna made 18 excellent sets.

Only two players scored in double figures for Chery Tiggo: Dindin Manabat with 14 points and Mylene Paat, who came off the bench with 10 points.
