Bacolod to get 30,000 more doses of Pfizer for pediatric vaccination

BACOLOD CITY - An additional 30,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines are expected to arrive this week here to boost the vaccination on children aged five to 11.

According to Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), the additional vaccines will pave the way for more barangay vaccination centers to open for the children.

The city has a total of 80,000 children aged five to 11, based on the target population data from Department of Health-Western Visayas, but what was given to the city was good only for vaccinating 45,000 children.

As of March 14, 5,780 children from the said age group already received their first shots, 808 of them were fully vaccinated.

Last month, the city received 10,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines on an emergency use authorization (EUA) for pediatric vaccination.

Meanwhile, the city remains under Alert Level 1 from March 16 to 31, 2022.
