Newcomer Pippen drops debut single 'Sabik'

Singer-composer Pippen conveys the longing of a person who is bound by distance from his special someone in “Sabik,” his debut single under Star Music.

“’Sabik’ is the result of my personal experiences with my loved one. Her family never really liked me, but she fought for me,” he recalled, adding that because of his girlfriend’s courage, their relationship was allowed to continue but with a no-meetup condition for an entire year.

“That gave rise to more challenging scenarios which led me to write the song because I experienced the pain of enforced distance,” said Pippen, who is also an actor and a music teacher.

A song that aims to capture the agony of someone who is miles away from his lover, “Sabik” can be an anthem for those who struggle with the lack of intimacy and proximity to their partners—from OFWs who cannot be with their families, lovers who met online, and those who long for companionship.

The new Star Music artist composed and produced the track with his manager and mentor Cesar Evangelista Buendia. TBear Music and LEBTelon Films worked on the song’s production and arrangement with Pippen, while Tommy Katigbak provided its guitar and bass tracks.
