K-pop idol group EXO's Kai diagnosed with Covid-19; NU'EST's Minhyun recovers

K-pop boy band EXO member Kai has tested positive for Covid-19, the latest Korean celebrity to get the contagious disease.

“EXO's Kai was diagnosed with Covid-19 on the 14th ,” EXO’s agency, SM Entertainment, announced on March 15.

It said Kai is fully vaccinated and “he is currently receiving treatment at home following the guidelines of the quarantine authorities and has stopped all his schedules.”

Before Kai, Red Velvet members Irene, Joy and Yeri tested positive for Covid-19 over the weekend, SM Entertainment said on March 14.

K-pop boy band Pentagon’s Yeo One and Wooseok tested positive for Covid-19 on March 14.

“Yeo One and Wooseok conducted the initial test (self-test kit) and tested positive. Afterward, they conducted the PCR test at a screening clinic and tested positive today (14th),” said Cube Entertainment.

It added, “Previously, Yeo One and Wooseok had received their second shot of the Covid-19 vaccine and are currently suspending all schedules and taking necessary measures according to the guidelines of the health authority.” As a result, Wooseok did not attend KBS2’s TV show “Immortal Songs” on March 14.

Oh My Girl’s Arin, boy band Kingdom’s Arthur and Mujin, and NMIXX’s Sullyoon also tested positive for Covid-19 on March 14.

Meanwhile, NU’EST member Minhyun “has made a full recovery from Covid-19 and his quarantine has concluded as of today ,” according to Pledis Entertainment. He was diagnosed with Covid-19 on March 9.

“Minhyun has been administering self-treatment at home as per health authority guidelines and has not shown any extraordinary symptoms. As his quarantine has concluded, he can resume his activities starting from today,” the agency said.

At least 215 Korean celebrities have tested positive for Covid-19 since Jan. 19. On March 15, South Korea added 362,338 new Covid-19 cases to bring the total confirmed cases to 7.22 million.

South Korea’s spike in daily cases is due to the spread of the highly contagious Omicron variant.
