Broadcaster Raffy Tulfo topped anew a non-commissioned Pulse Asia pre-election survey on preferred senatorial candidates for the May 2022 national elections.

Pulse Asia's Pulso ng Bayan survey results released on Monday, March 14, found 14 senatorial candidates having a statistical chance of winning in the May 2022 elections, with "most of the probable winners either incumbent or former members of Congress."

In solo 1st place was Tulfo, who has the support of 66.9 percent of likely voters.

Sharing 2nd to 4th places were Antique Rep. Loren Legarda (58.9 percent), former Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar (56.2 percent), and Taguig City-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano (55 percent).

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri (50.5 percent ) and Sorsogon Gov. Francis Escudero (49.8 percent) share the 5th to 7th places.

The other senatorial candidates with a statistical chance of winning, as of February 2022, were actor Robin Padilla (47.3 percent, 5th to 9th places), former Vice President Jejomar Binay (45.6 percent, 7th to 10th places), Senator Sherwin Gatchalian (44.6 percent, 7th to 10th places), and Senator Joel Villanueva (42 percent, 8th to 11th places)

Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada got 38.6 percent (10th to 11th places), followed by former Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista (32.8 percent, 12th to 14th places), Senator Risa Hontiveros (32.3 percent, 12th to 14th places), and former Senator JV Ejercito (31.6 percent, 12th to 14th places).

Meanwhile, Pulse Asia said 1.4 percent of respondents were ambivalent as regards their choices for senator, another 0.3 percent refused to name their preferred senatorial candidates, and 0.8 percent were unlikely to vote for any senatorial bet.

As of February 2022, a "bare majority" of likely voters (51 percent) were naming 12 of their preferred candidates for the Senate.

"Majority figures are recorded in the Visayas (69 percent), Mindanao (73 percent), Class D (52 percent), and Class E (55 percent)," Pulse Asia said.

"The country’s likely voters are identifying a mean of nine and a median of 12 of their favored senatorial bets. Across geographic areas mean figures vary from eight to 11 while the mean across socio-economic classes is nine," it pointed out.

Pulse Asia's latest survey was conducted from Feb. 18 to 23, and participated in by 2,400 respondents 18 years old and above, who are registered voters and likely to vote in the May 2022 elections.
