Robredo camp 'unfazed' by latest Pulse Asia survey: 'We have clear momentum'

The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo remained confident that they have enough numbers to win in the May 2022 elections despite her poor showing in the latest Pulse Asia survey results.

The latest survey, done on 2,400 adults from Feb. 18 to 23, did not cover the massive rallies that Robredo’s team had in Cebu, Iloilo, Butuan, Cavite, Bulacan, Bacolod, Manila, and Isabela from Feb. 24 up to now.

Many of these “massive, record-breaking” rallies in recent weeks showed a “snowballing in support” for Robredo, her spokesman Barry Gutierrez said in a statement.

“The latest Pulse Asia survey was done prior to these game changing developments, and does not yet capture the more recent surge in VP Leni's support,” he added.

The rallies were attended by tens of thousands of Robredo’s supporters, the biggest of which was the one in Bacolod with 86,000 kakampinks and the Cavite rally that drew a crowd of 47,000 despite its Governor Jonvic Remulla’s promise to deliver 800,000 votes to survey frontrunner, former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

“With this clear momentum from the people's campaign—reflected both in the massive rallies as well as in online metrics—we are confident that the next 56 days will culminate in an election day victory for Leni Robredo,” Gutierrez said.

The latest survey showed Robredo at 15 percent, a far cry from Marcos who got 60 percent, of the respondents saying they would vote for him if the presidential election was held during the survey period.

Despite being a perennial second-placer in the presidential preference surveys, Robredo has been the target of the camps of Marcos, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and Senator Panfilo Lacson in recent weeks.
