The local government of Paranaque City recorded only three new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, March 13, the lowest tally since the pandemic began, Mayor Edwin Olivarez said Monday.
Olivarez made the announcement during the Monday regular flag raising ceremony held at the city hall quadrangle, sponsored by the Youth and Sports Development Office (YSDO).
He said that since the pandemic hit the country, the city government had been recording a double-digit number of cases in all the city’s 16 barangays.
The surge in Covid-19 cases had prompted the city government to intensify the PDITR (prevent-detect-isolation-treatment-reintegration) program along with the vaccination drive.
Olivarez said the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) said there are now 30 active Covid-19 cases in the city after it recorded three new cases.
He said the total number of Covid-19 cases in the city since the pandemic hit the country has reached about 50,697 with 781 deaths.
The mayor called on all the city employees to help the local government promote the importance of getting vaccinated plus the booster shot for their additional protection against the virus.
