Comelec to be transparent in all preps

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said it will be completely transparent in all their preparations for the May 2022 polls.

"When we assume office we vowed for the sanctity of the ballots as our guiding principle. On my part as chair of the Comelec, I made it very clear that my policy is complete transparency without compromising the security of the ballots...so we take this opportunity to open these things to the public," Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan during a press briefing in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The Comelec conducted a walkthrough of the vote counting machines, consolidation and canvassing system (CCS) production, and deployment process in their warehouse in Laguna on Monday for stakeholders.

On Tuesday, the poll body will also hold a walkthrough at the National Printing Office in Quezon City where the printing of the official ballots are currently ongoing.

Comelec Commissioner George Garcia said there will also be a regular briefing to all poitical parties, partylist organizations, media, stakeholders, citizens arm to give the public an update on developments and deployment.

"We will do that every Thursday," he said.

Garcia added that there will also be CCTV cameras at NPO, the warehouse and in other critical areas.

"The instruction of our chairman is full and complete transparency," he said.
