CEBU CITY — A region-wide police operation dubbed as Synchronized Enhanced Managing of Police Operations (SEMPO) resulted in the confiscation of at least P6 million worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of more than 100 drug suspects in Central Visayas.
The series of police operations started at 12:01 a.m. on March 12 and ended at 12:01 a.m. on March 13, the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) reported.
A total of 149 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted that saw the arrest of 188 drug personalities and confiscation of 935 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P6.3 million.
Also, 128 anti-illegal gambling operations were conducted that led to the arrest of 279 persons and the seizure of P28,000 gambling money.
In the campaign against loose firearms, the PRO 7 launched 217 operations and arrested 16 persons while also confiscating 227 firearms and four explosives.
PRO 7 also arrested 36 “most wanted persons” and 189 “other wanted persons.”
Brig. Gen. Eduardo Vega, regional director of PRO 7, commended all operating units for the successful 24-hour SEMPO.
“Your police in Central Visayas are working tirelessly to fulfill their mandate,” said Vega.
“As the Holy Week approaches, you can be assured that your “Bisdak Cops” will work round the clock to serve the community. We are also appealing for the cooperation of the public to maintain peace in our community,” added Vega.
