The UniTeam alliance of presidential bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte promised to strengthen the country’s police force.

“Lahat po ng law enforcement sa ating bansa, ipa-strengthen. Hindi lang po kontra droga, kontra terrorism, kontra criminality, lahat po ‘yun, pati anti-insurgency (We will strengthen all of the law enforcement in our country. Not only against drugs, but terrorism, criminality, all of that, even anti-insurgency),” Mayor Duterte told reporters during an ambush interview in Paranaque on Saturday, March 12.
Some of Mayor Duterte’s consistent talking points are the strengthening of police and the continuation of her father’s legacy: specifically, President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs and anti-crime stances.
“That is the reason why Davao City is awarded one of the best city police office dahil naiintindihan nila kung ano ‘yung mga dapat nilang gawin (because they understand what do do), particularly against anti-criminality,” Duterte-Carpio previously highlighted to the press last Feb. 22 about the police operations during her mayorship in Davao.
However, police operations during President Duterte’s administration and even during the younger Duterte’s Davao mayorship drew the attention of an International Criminal Court (ICC) investigation into alleged human rights violations. The investigation has since been suspended.
“Lahat po ‘yun dahil ang gusto ng lahat ng Pilipino ay mapayapang pamumuhay hindi lang po dito sa ating bansa but sa buong mundo and ‘yan po ang commitment ng UniTeam (All of that because Filipinos want a peaceful life here and in the whole world. That is a commitment of the UniTeam),” she underscored
Mayor Duterte is running for the vice presidency as a Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) candidate while Marcos Jr. is gunning for the presidency as a Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) candidate. The two constitute the UniTeam tandem.
