Paranaque's Joy and Gus Tambunting backs UniTeam: 'A woman should be VP'
Paranaque City 2nd district Rep. Joy Tambunting and Congress re-electionist Gus Tambunting backed the UniTeam president-vice president tandem of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

“Naniniwala ako na dapat isang babae talaga ang maging bise presidente natin...sa mga minamahal kong kababayan dito sa Paranaque, hinihiling ko po sa inyo, suportahan po niyo ang ating minamahal na bise presidente, Sara Duterte (I believe that a woman should be elected vice president... To my constituents in Paranaque, I ask that you support our vice president Sara Duterte),” Mrs. Joy Tambunting told her constituents during a sectoral meet-and-greet with the UniTeam bets in BF Homes, Parañaque City on Saturday morning, March 12.
Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) chair Duterte is the only female candidate running for the vice presidency. Meanwhile, Vice President Leni Robredo, also a woman, is running for the highest post in the land as the sole female presidential candidate.
“Ako ay nakikiusap, tiklop-luhod akong nakikiusap na pagdating ng eleksyon, pagdating sa botohan ay tukungan natin ang ating panauhing pandangal dahil siya ay marunong at magaling. Iyung ipinakita niyang galing sa Davao ay ipapakita niya sa buong Pilipinas (I’m asking on bended knee, please support our guest because she is capable. What she did in Davao she can do all throughout the Philippines” Mr. Gus Tambunting added.
CMD President and House Majority Leader Rep. Martin Romualdez also thanked Paranaque City for welcoming the UniTeam candidates, crediting their performance in surveys to support from city-organized meet and greets.
Following the BF Homes sectoral meet and greet, UniTeam was then supposed to hold a grand rally-concert in Aseana City, Paranaque on the evening of March 12. It was canceled due to inclement weather. Marcos’ campaign manager Benhur Abalos speculated that 50,000 voters would have attended.
“Ang expected namin dito at least 50,000 na crowd. And yet nakita n’yo naman ‘yung ibang kababayan natin ayaw umalis...Pero babalik kami sa Parañaque City, pangako po namin ‘yon (What we expected was a crowd of 50,000. And yet you saw for yourselves that our countrymen didn’t want to leave...We promise to return to Paranaque City),” said Abalos after the canceled March 12 grand-rally.
Duterte and UniTeam senatorial candidates Gilbert Teodoro, Gringo Honasan, and Harry Roque engaged with the Paranaque attendees after the grand rally cancellation.
