Rachel Alejandro may not be as visible around these parts but that is not to say she is not busy.

She is actually set to appear in a US-made film.

In an article published on ABS-CBN, the 48-year-old star described the film, titled "Sinister Cover-up," as a murder mystery.

She was cast as a lawyer.

She added the film is set to begin production in Boston next week.

But wait, there's more.

Rachel has also snagged a commercial.

She was only too happy to share it with fans in a post on Instagram.

She wrote, "Grateful that there are more and more work opportunities for Asian-American actors these days."

Apparently, the daughter of Hajji Alejandro, who is now based in New York, has been sending audition reels left and right.

“Padala lang ako nang padala every day ng auditions,” was how she put it.

Rachel admitted it wasn't easy to land acting jobs in the US.

Even for someone with experience like her.

“You start from scratch here,” she related. “Even if they see you have a hit teleserye, sa kanila naman, ‘That’s not here.’ They see obviously the experience, everything that’s on the resume, but at the end of the day, ang hinahanap talaga nila is a particular look and of course the performance.”

Eager as she is to further her acting career there, Rachel is not letting go of her first love, singing.

She is to embark on a short US tour this May, with stops in Florida and Arizona.

“Habang may ibubuga pa, as they say,” she said.

“Thirty-six years is a very, very long time to be doing what I’m doing. Pero hindi naman nakakasawa, kasi every project has new things to offer.”
