Easterlies, shearline affect various parts of PH – PAGASA

No low pressure area (LPA) is affecting the Philippines, but two weather systems namely easterlies and shearline are bringing isolated rains and thunderstorms in various parts of the country, the State weather bureau said on Saturday, March 12.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Obet Badrina said that no weather disturbance is expected to develop nor affect the country throughout the forecast period, but easterlies and shearline may bring rains and thunderstorms in most parts of the Philippines.

“Itong shear line ay nakakaapekto ito partikular na sa silangang bahagi ng hilagang Luzon. Habang sa nalalabing bahagi naman ng ating bansa ay easterlies naman ang nakakaapekto (Shear line affects the eastern section of northern Luzon. Meanwhile, easterlies affects the rest of the country),” said Badrina in a public weather forecast.

Residents of Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours due to the shearline.

They were also warned of flash floods and landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, easterlies prevails over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. This weather system brings partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers mostly over the eastern section of the aforementioned areas, said PAGASA.
