Caloocan records zero new Covid-19 cases

The Caloocan City government recorded zero new Covid-19 cases on Friday, March 11, the first time since the pandemic began in 2020.

Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan said that the current record indicates the decline in the number of individuals infected with the coronavirus under the more relaxed Alert Level 1 quarantine status in Metro Manila.

He added that it proves that the local government’s programs (mass testing, contact tracing, vaccination) and the resident’s compliance with health and safety protocols are effective.

"Nagpapasalamat tayo sa bawat mamamayan ng Caloocan para sa kanilang kooperasyon at pakikiisa sa ating laban sa pandemya. Nawa'y magtuluy-tuloy na ang pagbuti ng sitwasyon upang tuluyan na nating malampasan ang pandemyang ito (We thank every Caloocan citizen for their cooperation and solidarity in our fight against the pandemic. May the situation continue to improve so we can fully overcome this pandemic),” he said.

The local government said that since the beginning of March, the new cases recorded in the city are almost always at single-digits.

As of March 11, there are 39 active cases out of the city’s 74, 672 total confirmed cases, with 1,749 deaths and 72,884 recoveries
