Bren Esports got a sigh of relief after its second stringers delivered the breakthrough win in the MPL Philippines Season 9 at the expense of Omega Esports.

Bren improved to a 1-5 record although still dwelling in the cellar of the standings. The victory, nonetheless, was a welcome development for coach Francis “Duckeyyy” Glindro, saying that the win served as a glimmer of hope for the squad.
“I think apart from the happiness, I think parang hope na we’re still in it, we’re halfway through the regular season so (this win is a) shining, glimmering hope na kaya pa talaga,” said Duckey in the team’s post-game presser after its 2-1 win over Omega.
Coach Paulo “Pauloxpert” Munsayac was also elated to see Bren’s second unit step up to the challenge of ending the drought in the crew’s first outing in the MPL and after watching from the sidelines in the first four weeks of the tournament.
“Sinabihan namin sila na this is the opportunity to really claim their spot because at the end of the day kahit Team A, Team B they’re still competing with each other,” he said.
“May pride rin dun in a way for each team so they need to prove themselves and execute in the tournament and yun yung pinakita nila today,” he said.
Duckey also praised the performance although he also stressed that the team cannot be contented with the win as there are still a lot of room for improvement for the team halfway through the regular season.
“Performance-wise, its pretty good but I’m hoping we can still improve. There’s still a lot of room for improvements,” Duckeyy commented.
“I just want them to continue with the same mindset na ginagawa nila for now, like motivating yung kakampi nila and stuff like that, I hope that continues on and sana maging contributing factor din siya sa pag step-up ng sister team nila.”
